My Conversion, S.C. |
|
I was born in Bangkok, Thailand. My family has been Buddhist and idol worshippers for generations. My father was a vice-chairman for the Chinese Buddhist Assoc., in Bangkok. I came to the US as a student studying in Charlotte, NC., just as my four other brothers. While studying in a denominational College, my older brother wrote to our father that he wanted to be a Christian. Our father replied that if he ever became a Christian, he would be disowned. So the door was closed. But Praise the Lord, He is so merciful to whom He would have mercy. I did not choose Him, but He chose me! By His sovereign arrangement I had moved to Houston, TX. One day in 1978, I went to The University of Houston campus to pick up an application for a friend, who was interested to come to school here (but she never came). I met a Christian sister at the Admissions Office; she started to talk to me and asked where I was from. She said there was a couple at her church that came from Thailand and she would like to bring me to their house, which was on campus, within walking distance. I agreed. While walking to their house, the sister kept sharing with me about Christ. I said to myself, here we go again, another Christian trying to convert me. I went to catholic school, and was around Christians all the time, and I saw that Christianity and Catholic practices are not different from Buddhist practices and teaching. Both taught that you are to be a good person. But this sister puzzled me because her sharing was full of life and enjoyment and her intimate relationship with God. After almost a year of attending the Friday and some Lord's Day meetings and by meeting with another sister who was from Japan, she faithfully and patiently nourished me with the Word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! One day I opened up to Him, through His speaking that He is God, there is no one besides Him, and He is greater! At my conversion, I had vowed that I would only follow Him through His Word, not from man's teaching. I can testify that the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee only cares for God's plan, and His heart's desire. God's heart's desire is for man to express Him, to mingle and be one with Him, to receive His life and nature. Thank the Lord for His faithfulness and mercy to those who come forward to Him, because my three brothers have received the Lord through this ministry and are meeting with the local church in Bangkok. My parents have started to open up to the Lord too; my brothers and I have not stopped praying for them. We need to be faithful to pray for our families and friends, and for one another; we all need to be opened to be one with the Lord. |
